It’s 8 days before Christmas and you are still not done with your shopping for Christmas gifts and presents.
Maybe because you are just too busy or you are still waiting for your Christmas bonus and/or 13th month pay.
Here are ways on how to shop for your last-minute Christmas gifts without breaking your bank:
1. Make a list and check them twice
Make a list of everyone you need to buy presents and set the price limit. No matter what, stick to your initial budget; don’t spend money you don’t have.
2. It is really the thought that counts
Don’t fall into the social currency trap of who has the more expensive gift? Think of the receiver, what he likes, needs and is useful for him. So even if it’s small, it’s personal. It is really the thought that counts.
3. Make Homemade or DIY gifts
Homemade gifts are cuter than the bought ones. If you can cook or bake, why not make jams and bake some cookies and put it in decorated cute jars. If you are an artist, why not get crafty and make something out of anything? If you can make candles, or whatever it is that you can do, it’s your time to showcase your skills. Your efforts will be greatly appreciated and you can save a lot on this.
4. Personalized Gifts
If you buy something that you think is too simple, you might as well have it personalized. It adds love to your gifts. By adding the person’s name in your gift makes the receiver feels special. Therefore, even if you just have a simple gift like a hanky, a towel, a cap or a bag, personalizing it makes the gift more valuable than its price.
5. Buy a Decent ‘family gifts’ instead of separate ones
Get one big present for the whole family instead of small presents for each member.
Like a Christmas basket for each family which they can use for the celebration, their Family Photograph in a Christmas-Themed-PhotoFrame, a popcorn maker, a board game or even an electronic gadget that the whole family can enjoy on doing together. A family gift is a fun way to gather everyone together. Of course, it still depends on the budget or price limit you originally set.
6. If you have to choose only few people to give gifts to, choose to give to the kids
As a mother myself, I would very much appreciate a gift for my daughter even if they don’t give me a gift. After all, Christmas is really for children and alike. I would love my kid to experience the season of giving while she is young.
Christmas is the season of giving. It is also the season we remember the original Giver that gave His Life to us to save us. Don’t forget to teach your children that without Jesus Christ, there will never be a Christmas.
Be a Cheerful Giver,
