It was exactly a month ago when I was invited by Dr. Victor Gaddi, President of Philippine Orthopaedic Association (POA), North Luzon Chapter for the Quarterly Meeting of North Luzon and North South Chapter to be a speaker for them regarding Financial Literacy for Doctors. This was not the first time I was invited to be a speaker, but I admit, by far this is one of the biggest.
Originally, I was asked to talk about Taxation and Doctors, due to my blog about the same topic. But since I come to think that, a better and more suitable speaker for that matter would be a friend of one of my colleagues, Atty. Adan Delamide (a Certified Public Accountant and Tax Lawyer as well). I invited him and fortunately he is available for the talk. His talk is about, “Dissecting Tax Code, What Filipino Doctors should Know?”
Now, I am tasked to talk about “Basic Wealth Building, Investments and Estate Protection for Doctors.”
The talk was done in Camp John Hay, Baguio. We were housed at “Forest Lodge, Manor Hotel” sponsored by Takeda Pharmaceuticals.

After endless nights of preparation and also for that reason I was not able to post in my blog as scheduled (apologies to those who follow my blog, you now know why), I finally came up with my well prepared speech.
My lecture consisted of financial basics tailored fit to a doctor’s perspective. Some topics I touched:
What is your financial I.Q, how financially fit are you?
Why are Doctors not Rich?
How to become the Rich Doctor, Your family and friends think you are?
How to retire with the lifestyle you want?
How to build your wealth and protect it at the same time
Obstacles keeping Physicians from becoming really wealthy and how to overcome it

This was my team and Atty. Adan team table. From left (Atty. Adan, Ophelia Dasmarinas, Debbie Vedan, Dinna Ampon, Czel Yu, Janzen Ampon, Me and Atty. Raymond)
In a nutshell, I believe I was able to render a sound financial literacy lecture for my fellow doctors. Because of their attentiveness and cooperation, I think I was able to somehow touch their lives even in my own little way. To all who listened and took part, to Dr. Victor Gaddi, for my team who supported me, to Takeda, to Doc Y, to Atty. Adan, thank you.
For all those who also want to invite me to speak to them, you may contact me here. Don’t worry its for free, but subject to my availability.
Watch out for my next posts, I will be sharing with you, some of the lecture I have discussed in my talk. In order for you not to miss it, subscribe here for free.
